Julie's curiosity and passion for cooking started as a young adult. She bought cookbooks and experimented in her home for family and friends. It wasn't until she found herself searching for a new career that she decided to pursue her interest seriously. Julie began her culinary journey at the world famous Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2008 and graduated in 2009 with honors.
In 2010 Julie joined the internationally known Harvard Club of Boston. She began her career as the Garde Manger, or cold line cook. She worked her way up through the ranks from line cook, to banquet cook, and ended her journey as the Saucier. She helped prepare and create dishes for weddings, private & corporate events, as well as the two private dining restaurants in the club.
Julie brought her eight years of restaurant and catering experience from the Harvard Club with her when she joined the prestigious Chilton Club of Boston as the Pastry Chef, where she currently resides. Julie's interest in baking was well documented at the Harvard Club. She was in charge of creating and executing the dessert menus at the Harvard Club during her entire tenure. Even though she was taking the huge leap from the savory to the sweet side of cooking she was up to the challenge. All of this gave Julie a more well-rounded knowledge of the kitchen, and a firmer foundation upon which to build The Purple Fox Kitchen.
Julie established The Purple Fox Kitchen in 2021 right in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak. The idea of filming a cooking show came about when Julie was stuck indoors cooking dinner for her family night after night. During these cooking sessions she found herself walking through each step, as if teaching a class to no one but herself. That's when it hit her, maybe she should share her knowledge with an audience? Once the idea was mentioned to her father, an expert in filming and editing, he sprang into action. Thus, The Purple Fox Kitchen YouTube channel was born. Julie's desire to help others provide delicious and simple meals for their families has always been a cornerstone of the show.

During Covid-19, hair salons were closed. If you have gray roots like I do, this was a nightmare! Boxed hair color it was. Since we were on lockdown and quarantining, there was no better time to have fun with color. I had a craving for Purple!!! Turns out, I loved it, and so did everyone else! One morning, my husband texted me “Good morning beautiful purple fox.” (Two years later, that is still my morning text). So, when it came time to think of a name for my show and brand, Matthew insisted on the Purple Fox. Since I am still rocking the purple hair, it just made sense.
Outside of the kitchen I enjoy spending time with my husband, stepdaughter Ava, friends, family and most importantly my fur baby Rocco. Rocco and I love to go to the dog park. He certainly loves to make new friends. Besides the dog park we love to travel, especially to Nantasket Beach in the summer. Massachusetts is my home base but I love exploring all of New England for long weekends away.
I am an avid music enthusiast and love live events and festivals. When I am not at work, I am usually rocking out in the kitchen to Led Zeppelin or Prince. Although, if it's game day the only thing playing in my house will be the Patriots! I am a New England woman through and through.
Although 2020-2021 was extremely tough for some, it was a blessing in many ways for me. I got engaged to and married my best friend, Matthew Andrews and inherited a beautiful step-daughter. Matt and I were even able to travel to breathtaking Aruba. We had an addition to the family with our fur baby Rocco, the cutest Morkie you ever did see. And of course, 2021 was the year I took a chance at making my culinary dreams come true by creating The Purple Fox Kitchen. I am truly blessed.
My fur children have always been near and dear to my heart. The MSPCA has always been there for me, especially with my first baby, Bitsy. It is so important to help when we can no matter how large or small a donation is, it makes all the difference to others.
There are many ways you can donate to the MSPCA-Angell. From an online gift to a charitable gift annuity, your contribution will have a significant impact in the lives of thousands of animals.
